Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 August 2026
1. Who we are
Find It ("we", "us") is an Australian product search and price-comparison service that helps you find products across major retailers. This policy explains what information we process when you use our website or related apps at findit.best.
We are not the retailer. When you open a product link, you leave Find It and deal with that retailer's own site and privacy practices.
2. Information we collect
- Search activity. Search queries, selected stores, result counts, timing, and related search-quality signals (for example did-you-mean or try suggestions). Used to run search and improve relevance.
- Usage analytics. Page path, approximate location (country, region/state, city, and optional IP-based postal code when provided by the hosting platform), browser/OS/device type, referrer host, optional marketing UTM tags from the URL (source/medium/campaign), coarse viewport size, browser language, timezone, landing and previous in-app paths, and whether the visit was from our native app wrapper versus a regular browser. We store a hashed session identifier derived from IP and user-agent (also linked to search events when enabled), not a login account. Operators can turn individual analytics fields on or off in the admin dashboard.
- Product interaction events. Optional first-party events such as accepting a did-you-mean suggestion, tapping a try suggestion, changing sort (Cheaper/Closer/Quicker), using location for nearby search, opening a retailer product link, or interacting with a Promoted or partner offer card. These are first-party events we control; they are separate from any cookies or trackers set by affiliate networks or ad partners on their own domains.
- Device preferences. Optional settings stored in your browser (for example last query text or filter preferences) via local storage. These stay on your device unless you clear site data.
- Admin access (operators only). An authentication cookie for the private admin dashboard. Not used for ordinary visitors.
- Location you choose to share. Postcode or GPS coordinates you provide to sort by nearby stores. Sent to our servers only as needed for that search.
We do not require you to create an account to search. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (health, government identifiers, etc.).
3. How we use information
- Provide and operate product search and comparison features
- Cache search results to improve speed and reduce load on retailer sites
- Monitor reliability, abuse (rate limits), and search quality
- Show and operate labelled Promoted or partner offer placements where enabled
- Understand aggregate usage (admin analytics dashboard)
- Maintain security of the service and admin tools
We do not sell your personal information. Commercial relationships (affiliate and advertising partners) are described below and on the Disclosure page.
4. Affiliate and partners (Promoted links)
If you open a Promoted, Sponsored, or other partner offer link, you leave Find It. The destination merchant and any affiliate or advertising network (for example Commission Factory, Amazon Associates, eBay Partner Network, or, when used, display advertising partners such as Google) may set its own cookies, click IDs, advertising identifiers, or similar technologies so it can attribute a referral, purchase, or ad impression. That processing is controlled by the partner’s privacy notice and consent tools where required.
Find It may log that a Promoted or partner link was shown or opened (for example source label and timing) as part of operating, measuring, and securing the Service. We do not need your payment card details for affiliate programmes; payment, if any, is between you and the merchant.
On the standard web browser experience, display or in-feed advertising (when enabled) may use third-party advertising technologies and a consent mechanism where required by law or policy. Inside a native app shell (for example Capacitor), app advertising frameworks such as AdMob may be used when enabled; on iOS, App Tracking Transparency prompts apply where required. AdSense-style web inventory is not used inside the app WebView.
5. Third parties
- Retailers. Product names, prices, images, and links come from retailer websites or APIs. Visiting a retailer is subject to their terms and privacy policy.
- Affiliate and advertising partners. Promoted and sponsored destinations, and any display or app advertising networks we enable, process click and/or advertising data under their own policies when you interact with their content or leave our Service.
- Hosting and database. The app runs on cloud infrastructure (currently Vercel) with data stored in a managed Postgres database (Neon). Providers process data under their own terms as our processors.
6. Cookies and similar tech
Essential cookies may be used for admin authentication. Public search uses local storage for optional UI preferences and a lightweight page-view ping to our own /api/track/pageview endpoint (first-party).
When you use Promoted or advertising features, third parties may set cookies or similar technologies on their domains or via tags we allow for affiliate measurement and (on the open web, when enabled) display advertising. You can clear site data in your browser; partner cookies follow that partner’s controls and any cookie or consent banner we provide on the open web.
7. Retention
Search cache entries expire after a short operational TTL. Analytics events (searches and page views) are retained for service improvement and may be pruned over time. You can clear browser local storage and cookies for this site at any time.
8. Security
We use HTTPS, rate limiting on search endpoints, and access controls for the admin dashboard. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use the service accordingly.
9. Children
Find It is a general audience product search tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Your choices (Australia)
Depending on applicable Australian privacy law, you may request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you, or ask questions about this policy, using the contact details below. You can also stop location sharing, clear site data in your browser, and choose not to use the service.
11. Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves (for example when findit.best goes live or when new features ship). The Last updated date above will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
